Image Segmentation and Nonuniformity Correction Methods

Popis: The delineation of target object on medical image is known as image segmentation. Successful printing of a three-dimensional (3D) object replies on accurate segmentation of the object on the image. Manual segmentation has limitations such as being labor-intensive and susceptible to human errors. Therefore, computational algorithms of automated segmentation have been widely used in 3D printing. In this chapter, we covered the basic concepts of image segmentation and common algorithms of automated segmentation. We also covered the necessary preprocessing (such as nonuniformity correction) and postprocessing steps, as well as commonly used segmentation software.
