Popis: | Most 11B NMR measurements in borates have been made in polycrystalline materials. In early studies, the resulting powder spectra were analyzed under the assumption of an axially symmetric electric field gradient at the boron site. This assumption, combined with neglect of effects due to dipole broadening, has led to errors in many of the reported values of the quadrupole coupling parameters for 11B in borates. An analysis of these errors is carried out using the results of a recent computer study of NMR lineshapes. |
