Popis: Causality is so useful and important that most people cannot let an event go by without asking why it happened and offering their own “because”. Causality is at the center of explanation and understanding not only of our everyday life, but in all scientific fields. But what exactly is it? This article aims at presenting user-friendly overview of the essence of causality and explanation in political analysis. After a short historical overview of the philosophical grounds of causality, the two types of causality – nomothetic and ideographic are presented. The generalized criteria for establishing causality give a good reference point for researchers. At the end article discuss the main approaches to causality and its explanation.
