Popis: Living cell products are accepted regimens for the treatment of problematic and chronic wounds as well as for tissue regeneration. This category of biomaterials uses cultured cells, including keratinocytes and fibroblasts. While numerous products are available on the international market, all designed to accelerate or qualitatively improve tissue repair and wound healing, more acceptable scientific, well-designed studies are needed. This chapter reviews the history of living cell products, the science and research behind current modalities, and the current use and technology of living cells, including stem cells, as well as discusses the current strengths and weakness of living cell technology. Material is also presented on promising new technologies with matrices and living cell and stem cell products, although current research into the applications of stem cells for clinical tissue repair is limited.
