In this report for the first time advertisement in the pre-revolutionary Russian press is considered as a source on the history of mechanical calculating devices. The analysis of advertisements posted in the popular weeklies “Niva” and “Ogonyok” allowed not only to draw some conclusions about the scale of distribution of calculating devices in Russia at the ing of the 20th century, but also to discover a previously unknown device of Russian inventor. |
