University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently in order tackle the growing problems of predatory journals and publishers introduced UGC-CARE List by replacing existing UGC Approved List of Journals. This initiative is much need approach to curb the menace of predatory journals and publishers in India. The UGC-Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics (UGC-CARE) has been established to promote quality research, academic integrity and publication ethics in Indian universities. This article made some observations with regard to UGC-CARE List. The limitations of the UGC-CARE list with regard to inclusion of regional language publications, incomplete journal analysis protocol, considering ISSN as a mandatory requirement for inclusion of journals in UGC-CARE list have been discussed in this article. |
