Music makes ties with the cosmos; it is an essential and structural bond. However, music is made by man, who pours into it his own emotions. Because of music, man enters into a new relationship with the cosmos. Relation, which is not only exploratory, scientific, intellectual, or superstitious but thanks to music, it is emotional, intimate, and artis- tic. Man always sent music into the cosmos in his phantasies, prayers, and dreams, but in the twenty century, it happened in reality. The man shut a ready musical work into faraway cosmic space. The pioneering role in this matter was given again, although in absentia, to Beethoven. It is one more tie of the last Viennese classic with existence, the total relation, final and entering the cosmos as if to prove to Popper’s claim that culture thrusts into being an element of surprise, without which human existence is impossible. |
