Popis: | first year of life averages 10 mm. Males and females reach reproductive maturity during the summer at an age of 21-26 months, and first reproduction (courtship and insemination) occurs the following spring at 29-31 months of age. The sex ratio of adult P. websteri is 1:1. P. websteri are active in the forest litter only between Oct. and May. Seasonal surface activity is significantly correlated with night air temperature, but not with rainfall. The life history pattern of P. websteri has characteristics of other eastern as well as of western temperate and neotropical plethodontid salamanders. |
