Popis: The National Institute of Rocket Propulsion Systems (NIRPS) was established in 2011 with the primary goal to maintain and advance United States leadership in all aspects of rocket propulsion. NIRPS recognized that a clear view and understanding of the health of the rocket propulsion industrial base is a key factor in achieving this goal. To this end, NIRPS has supported development of a tool with The Aerospace Corporation that can be used to enhance understanding of the complex and interconnected domestic supplier network currently responsible for the production of all liquid rocket engines and solid rocket boosters required for medium to heavy space lift applications. This tool also has the capability to perform scenario analysis to investigate the potential impact to the domestic industrial base due to specific launch vehicle demand forecasts. The tool is called PropSIMA (Propulsion Supplier Integrated Modeling and Analysis). The objective of this paper is to provide a detailed description of PropSIMA’s capabilities and to apply the tool to an example scenario involving partial reusability of a hypothetical launch vehicle propulsion system.
