Popis: Lupines (Lupinus spp.) are known to cause two distinct forms of poisoning in animals, viz. lupine or alkaloidal poisoning and lupinosis. The first of these is a nervous disorder caused by the alkaloids present in bitter lupines. The second is an icteric disease caused by a hepatotoxin (ictrogen) of unknown structure and origin.1
