In order to evaluate the prognostic factors of the cases of non-curative resection for thoracic esophageal cancer, more than three-year survivors (eight patients) were compared with dead cases within three years (forty-four patients). The cumulative 1-year, 3-year or 5-year survival rate of these cases was 47.7%, 18.2% or 13.0% respectively.
