Popis: | An HDTV optical disk camera has been developed, mainly for newsgathering and based on MPEG-2 interframe image compression. This paper first describes the role of recording devices at broadcasting stations, focusing on the optical disk and its merits. Next, the process and technical targets of using optical disks for HDTV broadcasting are explained in two stages. Optical disk technology was developed for the first stage, news production, which led to the development of the HDTV optical disk camera. The next stage concerns optical disk technology for programs such as dramas and archives that require higher picture quality and longer recording capacity. |
