Popis: Phase equilibrium in the Nd Ce Cu O system which is useful for crystal growth of Nd 2− x Ce x CuO 4 was determined by TGDTA and EPMA. In the (Nd 0.925 Ce 0.075 ) 2 O 3+δ -CuO system, Nd 1.85 Ce 0.15 CuO 4 melts incongruently at 1315°C, and decomposes to (Nd,Ce) 2 O 3+δ and a liquid. The solid of Nd 2− x Ce x CuO 4 coexists in equilibrium with the liquid from 78 to 91 mol % CuO. In the Nd 2− x Ce x CuO 4 system, Nd 2− x Ce x CuO 4 solid solutions are formed in the range of 0.00≤ x ≤0.18 by a melt method. The distribution coefficient of Ce into Nd 2 CuO 4 is larger than unity, and the solid of Nd 1.85 Ce 0.15 CuO 4 coexists in equilibrium with the liquid of Ce content x =0.02.
