Popis: The transitional change of volatile basic nitrogen amounts in test materials was investigated by the same methods as those in the previous report. The meterials for use in the test were water solutions of homogenized fish and aqueous extracts of boiled fish, Thunus orientalis.Further the test materials were treated as the following: 1) Condesated phosphates (C.P.) were added to the test materials respectively with each one of following four antiseptics, methyl naphthoquinone, dehydroacetic acid, nitrofrazone and nitrofurylacrylamide. 2) Excluding C.P., each one of the four antiseptics was added to the test materials respectively. 3) C.P. alone was added to the test materials respectively without any above-mentioned antiseptics.Among them, sodium hexametaphosphate intermingled with anyone of the antiseptics showed its highest effectiveness. As a result of our experiments on the effect of the used antiseptics, we could find that sodium hexametaphosphate were masked with Ca2+, and its antiseptic effects vanished completely. Then it is surely that of antiseptic action of C.P. is based upon its chelating acting action.
