Popis: Copper Iodide (CuI) is a low cost earth abundant and non toxic p-type semiconductor whose significance increases manifold when deposited on flexible substrates due to its applications in wearable and foldable electronics. In the present work, nano structured CuI films were deposited by spray method at room temperature, on flexible plastic sheet as the substrate. The film deposition is carried out using nebulized spraying, with CuI dissolved in volatile acetonitrile as the precursor. Deposition was carried out on glass substrate as well and the films were characterized using XRD, absorption, SEM, EDAX and Hall studies. The result reveal that p-type, nano crystalline, iodine rich, uniform CuI films with band gap 4.37 eV could be successfully deposited uniformly on flexible plastic substrates at room temperature in contrast to non uniform and discontinuous agglomerations obtained on glass substrates under similar preparation conditions.
