Popis: Publisher Summary A personal ad for a scientist who would make a good science writer might go something like this: “BUS (bored, unfulfilled scientist), likes to talk science but hates to do it. Like scientists, science writers are generally deeply interested in science. But unlike most scientists, those who have become science writers are perfectly happy to observe. Science writing is challenging; the prime focus is to cover a huge variety of projects in life sciences—the biology behind mental illness and breast cancer, the cloning of sheep and the genetics of taste, heart development, high blood pressure, immunology, the Human Genome Project, obesity, aging, and many other advances in genetics. The job is not easy, but sometimes it does require research. Furthermore, the chapter discusses where science writers are needed. Many groups need science writers. Science writers can be found almost anywhere science is conducted and quite a few places where it is not. Science writing is an attractive option for someone who does not want to be tied down to a staff position and many people do take it up as a freelancing option.
