Popis: | Based on the assumption that the heliopause is the pressure equilibrium surface separating two counterflowing magnetized plasmas, the influence of the external magnetic field on the shape of the heliosphere is considered. The range of parameters in astrophysical plasmas is such that one might expect to find two classes of solutions, namely: superAlfvenic and subAlfvenic for the partial differential 1st order equation describing the heliopause. Related to these solutions, the discussion of three types of the heliosphere: tail-, egg- and jet- type is presented. |
