Popis: The principal work engaged in by the Division of Geodesy of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey during the period July 1, 1947 to June 30, 1948, has been concerned with the extension of geodetic control surveys (vertical and horizontal) for large-scale flood-control and reclamation projects of the United States Corps of Engineers and the United States Bureau of Reclamation, and for mapping by the United States Geological Survey and the United States Forest Service. The triangulation and leveling have been undertaken in the order of priorities established by these organizations. In addition, some triangulation and leveling have been done in Alaska, in earthquake regions of California, on city-survey projects, and on special projects for the Armed Forces. Eight triangulation parties and eight leveling units have worked throughout the year. Four other triangulation parties and two leveling units worked through the summer and fall of 1947, but were disbanded when weather conditions made a continuation uneconomical. Two of the latter triangulation parties and three leveling units were reorganized in May to operate through the summer season of 1948.
