This chapter takes as its focus the history, theory, and practice of global education in the United States. Of particular interest are the challenges faced in community colleges and gateway courses. Specifically, the chapter highlights the author’s use of campus resources to design and implement a problem-based learning project that raised student awareness of the global refugee crisis and asked them to both evaluate current solutions and create their own. The chapter details the impetus, design, and layout of the project, and it provides reflections from the professor and students on the ways in which the project facilitated students’ experiences with global education. |
