Popis: | A stochastic model for describing the development of immature stable flies, Stomoxys calcitrans (L.), was based on 2 quantities, physiological age and physiological development. Physiological age was computed from a cumulative function of minimum development time, which was expressed as a function of temperature. Physiological development was defined as the minimum physiological age required for development to any specific stage transition. Physiological development for each stage transition, including instars, was measured and determined to be essentially constant regardless of temperature. The random variation in development of stable flies was described by a random function of physiological age and physiological development. The function permits the distribution of either variable to be determined for fixed values of the other variable. The effects of environmental factors other than temperature may be described by changing the parameters of the distribution. |
