Effect of Electrospinning Parameters on Fiber Morphology of Tissue Engineering Scaffolds: A Review Different types of nanofiber i.e. tissue engineering scaffolds are produced by using the electrospinning technique. The simplicity of the process makes the technique very attractive for many different applications in different areas; such as filtration and protective material, electrical and optical applications, sensors, nanofiber reinforced composites, drug delivery, wound dressing etc. The tissue engineering scaffolds can be modified in different ways for combining materials properties with different morphological structures for various types of applications. It is evident that the choice of scaffold is crucial to enable the cells to behave in the required manner to produce tissues and organs of the desired shape and size. It is possible to improve the scaffold design by controlling scaffold parameters such as pore size, porosity, pore distribution as well as other parameters, which support the cellular growth of scaffold. The aim of the review is to present an overview of the electrospinning technique by providing a brief description of the theory behind the process. It is also observed the effect of changing the parameters on fiber morphology and to discuss the potential application and impacts of electrospinning on the field of tissue engineering. |
