Popis: | Competitive badminton, owing to the variety of actions, re- quires a system of analysis that allows collecting, recording and evaluating information about the characteristics of the game. This system should account for the players' performance on court. For that purpose, latest generation computer tools (i.e., Pocket Pc) appear to be an easy and fast way to measure the players' actions during the game. Taking advantage of this device, we designed a visual basic-based program in order to acquire the variables of interest such as action and rest times, shuttle landing zone, winning actions and unforced errors. The measurement of these different items was directly (i.e., during the actual game) carried out with the Pocket Pc. Data was stored and further exploited on Excel and SPSS. The presentation of graphics and figures on the screen turns out to be a very efficient tool for coaches as well as for players. Not only does this information appear to be useful during the game, but for the analysis and planning of further matches and for training purposes. By using this system we measured the performance predic- tors in the Badminton World Championships 2001. We present this system as a way to reduce time and work load to record all the aforementioned variables. |
