Popis: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the seismic performance of the timber framed wall panel (Dhajji-Dewari). Locally available Acacia Nilotica wood species is used for the construction of timber wall panel. Timber wall panel of length 6′5″ and height 8′8″ is considered for the analysis. Tension capacity perpendicular to grain test and compressive strength parallel to grain test on timber is conducted experimentally as per IS: 1708 (Part 1 to 18): 2005. The joints of main post and secondary post with base plate having tennon-mortise connections are tested to find their load carrying capacity. Nails used for tennon-mortise joint connections are designed as per IS:2366-1983. The results obtained from the experiment is applied in the numerical model to perform nonlinear static pushover analysis. It is seen that the failure of the wall panel occurs when corner joints fail whereas the other joints were intact. Numerical analysis observations have demonstrated large deformability of Dhajji-Dewari wall panel under lateral load and hence they provide good resilience against lateral forces.
