Popis: The subject of investigation in this paper are nine (9) characteristic forestry species, that cover major part of the total forest area, and participate with around 75% of the total forest reserve in the Republic of Macedonia. The purpose of this investigation was to establish the energetic value of the forestry biomass, theoretical as well as separately for each of the investigated species, and will help establishing energetic value of the allowed annual revenue. The material for this investigation is collected from different regions of the State, and for each investigated species the material was collected from two different locations. Wood density parameters of tree species were also established for local conditions, and combined with available sources from other countries. The article presents a harmonized approach to estimate biomass potential for energy production structured into area, growing stock, annual increment and allowed annual revenue by species. The results from the investigation show that the forests in Republic of Macedonia are a significant energetic resource, with total energetic potential equivalent to 258.897 GWh. The energetic potential of the allowed annual revenue is estimated on 3.708 GWh/year. That potential, with certain technological changes in the phases of forest utilization and in the process of transformation of the wood energy to other kinds of energy (heat, electric, etc.) is a significant base for improvement of the energetic balance of the State, with the alternative, renewable and environmentally friendly energy.
