Popis:	Syntheses reported over the last 5 yr in the vitamin A and carotenoid fields are reviewed. Some previously unpublished work is described. This includes new routes to zeaxanthin and rhodoxanthin, the synthesis of optically inactive forms of the structures proposed for tunaxanthin, lutein and calthaxanthin, and the preparation of various polyene β-diketones, including the structure assigned to trikentriorhodin.
