Popis: Climate change presents a fundamental challenge to the way industries use energy and resources. A technology assessment study was conducted as part of Phase 3 of Qatargas’ GHG management strategy which is focused towards improving operational performance and energy efficiency. Various technological options were explored to enhance process optimization and increase energy efficiency potentially resulting in reduced greenhouse gas emissions and cost savings. Selection criteria, engineering calculations and Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) tools were used for assessment. Valuable outputs were realized encompassing application of heat recovery steam generators for gas turbine inlet cooling, boiler displacement and electricity generation for Qatargas’ LNG trains, and the option of a cogeneration system for the Laffan Refinery.
