An Al-Zr alloy was subjected to rolling at 450°C and then annealed in the temperature range from 250 to 500°C. Optimal physical and mechanical properties of Al–1% Fe–0.3% Zr–0.25% Si alloy was achieved by combining hot rolling and subsequent annealing at a temperature of 400°C for 3 hours. The spherical particles were identified as Al3Zr with a L12 structure and a mean size of 3 nm after annealing at 400°C. After annealing the yield strength and the ultimate tensile strength are 145 and 165 MPa, respectively, with elongation of 12.5%. The increase of electrical conductivity to 56% of IACS after annealing was result by the solid solution decomposition. |
