Popis:	In spite of the fact that many textbooks proclaim that the photon theory of light is necessary to explain the Compton effect, it is possible to treat it as a classical phenomenon provided the important role of the stationary state is recognised. The classical theory is presented and the quantum rules for the interaction of an electromagnetic wave with a charged particle are established.
