Identification of fish by disk electrophoresis was studied. Five fish of the sole family yielded electrophoretograms sufficiently dissimilar to identify them properly. The members of the rock family, with the exception of two of the eight species investigated, could not be distinguished on the basis of their electrophoretograms. However, a fish could be characterized as being either a rock or a sole. Two other species had characteristic profiles. These results indicate that the disk electrophoresis method can be utilized with limited success for the identification of these fish. |
