The methods for evaluating internal and external errors in parallaxes are reviewed and the results of each method are examined. The influence on parallax errors of variations in the weighting of individual parallax observations and of variations in reference-star configurations is discussed with emphasis placed on recent investigations of these effects made at the Van Vleck Observatory. |
