Popis: | Although source control of pollutants must be attempted first, at times direct manipulation of lakes may be necessary to sustain healthy ecosystems. Direct treatment of a lake should enhance the rate of recovery of lakes being treated by source control of nutrients (or toxins). A number of techniques can be used to improve lakes, but where possible, the technology should maximize the use of natural reactions to improve lakes. Lime or iron addition, sediment dredging, oxygen bubbling, or hydraulic manipulations can all be closely coupled to natural processes. |
