Popis: The contribution of various components of the renin–angiotensin system in tumorigenesis is an important emerging concept that may lead to the development of novel targeted therapeutic strategies against cancer. There is increasing evidence that AT 1 receptors contribute to tumor progression, whereas Mas receptors have beneficial effects against cancer. Studies examining the expression and effects of the angiotensin II type 2 (AT 2 ) receptor in cancer have led to controversial results, suggesting that AT 2 functions may be context-dependent.
