Popis: | The technique of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) was used to image films of tetrafluoroborate doped polythiophene and poly-3-bromothiophene films in air. Images of polythiophene showed large areas of amorphous surface, and smaller areas of semi-crystallinity with both helical and rod-like structures being observed. Films of poly-3-bromothiophene were dominated by large amorphous areas also, but contained well ordered surface areas with both helical and rod-like structures. The polythiophene and poly-3-bromothiophene rod-like structures both contained regularly spaced dislocations along the linear chains. |
