Popis: In addition to lesions measured at the site of energy deposition, there are radiation-induced cellular responses occuring very distantly from the site of primary ONA damage - such as gene activations and gene amplification. This report shows, that various types of radiation (low LET γ-rays, high LET α-particles or Auger electrons as well as UV-light) induce gene amplification in mammalian cells and that this process generates mutations, chromosomal aberrations and translocations which are supposed to be involved in all steps of the multistep process of carcinogenesis.
