Popis: | We present a 5 days old premature male infant with Dandy-Walker type malformation associated to congenital chylous ascites. Classically, posterior fossa cystic malformations have been divided into Dandy-Walker malformation, Dandy-Walker variant, mega cisterna magna, and posterior fossa arachnoid cyst. Dandy-Walker malformation, variant, and mega cisterna magna currently are believed to represent a continuum of developmental anomalies on a spectrum that has been termed the Dandy-Walker complex. Chylous ascites is uncommon in children. It is, however relatively more common in infancy. Congenital malformations of lymphatic system are responsible for 40% of cases. Idiopathic conditions accounts for 30% of cases and this condition said to have leaky limphatics. Secondary causes of chylous ascites include inflammatory, neoplastic, traumatic, non accidental injury, mechanical obstructions like malrotation, adhesive bands and incarcerated hernias. |
