Popis: | Composite ion exchange resins were prepared by coating copper ferrocyanide and hydrous manganese oxide powders on polyurethane foam. The binder used was polyvinyl acetate in alcohol/acetone medium. Studies were conducted in pilot scale using 50 L ion exchange column and treated category III radioactive liquid wastes. About 2000 to 2400 bed volumes of liquid wastes containing radioactive 137Cs and 90Sr were treated. Digestion of the resins was carried out in a 25 L column using alkaline KMnO4. The digested liquid was fixed in cement matrix and the matrices were characterized with respect to compressive strength, biological and leach resistance. |
