Large diameter (3 inch diameter X 4 inch) Li 2 B 4 O 7 (LBO) crystals with high quality (core-free, no inclusion and no crack) have been grown by the Bridgman method (BR) for the first time. The piezoelectric, optical, thermal and mechanical properties etc of BR LBO crystals have been measured. The performance of SAW resonator filters with low insertion loss (1.6 dB) and high image attenuation (60 dB) in UHF fabricated on BR LBO substrates indicates that BR LBO crystal is an industrially piezoelectric material for SAW devices. |
