Many therapeutic effects in medicine are achieved through textiles fitted or enclosed on body parts as elastic bandages and stockings. The task for these textiles used as adjuvant during therapy of venous or lymphatic vascular system diseases is the realisation of a defined compression effect on the affected body areas and with it the directed removal of liquids. This chapter discusses textile structures used for venous or lymphatic diseases. Several textile constructions are described as well as indications, applications, measuring methods and, finally, future trends are examined. |
