• The current research indicates that adults with severe TBI generally have autobiographical memory deficits that are not reflective of reduced knowledge, but inefficient retrieval systems. This informs specific and individualized strategies for an understudied population who receive cognitive rehabilitation. • Recall for event steps may be highly personalized due to confabulation typically seen in a severe TBI population. However, therapists can use prompts and rehearsal of event steps to promote recall and reduce errors in the community to increase reintegration |
