Popis:	With more than 50 years of development the concepts and procedures of fracture mechanics are well established in engineering evaluations of the safety and reliability of components against fracture. They are also part of the national and international standards. The present contribution gives several examples for the evaluation of helical springs, pins, pipelines, heavy containers, bridges, thick wall steel structures and of failure cases.
