An observation on the toxicity of hexavalent chromium to Daphnia magna

Popis:	Juvenile (12 ± 12 h old) and adult Daphnia magna were exposed to hexavalent chromium concentrations between 10 and 1000 μg l . The LC50-96 h was 50 μg 1 for both juveniles and adults. No reproduction occurred at the LC50 concentration when exposure was initiated on the first day of life. Both life span and reproduction were significantly reduced at the lowest concentration tested. These results suggest the need for further work on toxicity of chromium in aquatic ecosystems.
