Effect of Laser Energy on Underwater Acoustic Shockwave Emissions from Optical Breakdown

Popis: This study is aimed to understand the characteristics of underwater acoustic emissions by ~10 ns laser pulses in the temporal and spectral domain at various incident laser energies. The Short-time Fourier transform reveals that the acoustic signals have broad spectra spanning from 10 to 800 kHz, perpendicular to the laser propagation axis. We observed that the reflected signal from the water–air interface also has a broad acoustic spectrum which increased with incident laser energies. This kind of source seems to be promising for the remote detection and identification of underwater objects.
