DIDACDISC is an interactive videodisc demonstrating the didactical potential of interactive video. The first side of the disc contains an introduction about interactive video and 14 small interactive programs on wide variety of subjects. The disc is organized around seven dimensions: Target audience, Learning outcomes, Content, Treatment, Control, Audiovisual design and User interface. The user of DIDACDISC has the option to ask for information on aspects of all these dimensions by means of an interactive story or by means of text screens. Most aspects can be demonstrated by means of practical examples of interactive video programs. The second side of the disc contains six larger interactive learning programs. At present evaluation data about two programs are available: ‘Embryonic development’ and ‘Printed circuit fault finding’. The paper describes the development of DIDACDISC and presents the results of the available evaluations. |
