The arterial occulusion of the lower extriemity, which results from hypoplastic vessel syndrome, is rare. We report a case of occulusion of the left external iliac artery probably resulted from hypoplastic infrarenal aorta.A 41-year-old woman was admitted with ischemic symptoms of the left lower extriemity. Arteriography revealed a complete occulusion of the left exteral iliac artery, and hypoplasty of the infrarenal aorta, bilateral common iliac and femoral arteries. Left iliac-femoral bypass was performed by artificial graft. Transvaginal total histerectomy was done at the same time, because she had a large uterus myoma. Postoperative course was uneventful, the patient was discharged without any symptoms. It is suspected that the cause of lower aortic hypoplasia is congenital anomaly. This syndrome tends to occur in younger women, so minimum bypass method would be recommended as surgical treatment. |
