Popis: | An empirical model that predicts the foundation modulus of wood for metal-plate connector is developed. The model is based upon 150 bearing tests conducted using sets of teeth from actual metal plates. The wood samples used for the tests represent a range of wood density normally used in residential wood truss construction in the United States. The model is sensitive to specific gravity, moisture content, and grain angle with respect to the applied load on foundation modulus. The foundation modulus of wood is an essential input parameter to models of metal-plate-connected wood truss joints that predict axial and rotational stiffness values based on an elastic foundation theory. |
