Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a digitized version of a person's health record which comes with a challenge of ensuring secure storage of such sensitive data, access only to necessary individuals, interoperability amongst healthcare providers and many other challenges. Recent trends have suggested blockchain as a technology in storing EHR based on its decentralized peer-to-peer network with an aim to ensure security, privacy and interoperability of health records. The study provides background information about blockchain and relevant theory for developing EHR systems and aims to look into different proposed blockchain approaches for storing EHRs. |
