Popis: Evidence-based decision-making is an imperative for conducting effective policies, particularly in the case of aging. Systematic research can contribute to better decision making by clarifying concepts, allowing us to place an issue into a larger theoretical framework and by providing evidence on what works. It can help to assess the efficacy, efficiency and legitimacy of different policy alternatives. Finally, it can inform of the potential problems that could be faced and present evidence of the effectiveness of the adopted policies. This chapter offers a brief review of the contributions that researchers can make at different stages in the policy cycle.
