Popis: | The study reported here was undertaken primarly to explore the relationship between the sources of information cited by a scientist and the political ideology of the country in which he or she works. The data used were the sources cited by scientists of the six Warsaw Pact nations of Eastern Europe. The specific hypothesis guiding the study was that, if these countries would be ranked on a scale corresponding to their ideological proximity to the Soviet Union, this ranking could be duplicated on a bibliometric scale : the closer to the Soviet Union the country seemed ideologically, the greater the proportion of the bibliographic references that would relate to Soviet and other Eastern European sources. |
