Popis: Ever since the first human liver transplant by Starzl et al. [1] in 1963, modifications of the original technique have been successively described in an attempt to improve outcome and reduce the incidence of graft and patient morbidity and mortality. Despite these refinements, considerable variability exists in the accepted technique of liver transplantation, including the approach to recipient hepatectomy and implantation of the donor liver. Whilst such diversity undoubtedly accommodates anatomical variations or other technical challenges, it is less clear whether certain modifications offer a better outcome for the patient and the graft [2].
