Popis: | text Only a small number of archaeological features and artefacts were identified during the watching brief indicating that this area was probably peripheral to in situ settlement in historic times. Only two sherds of pottery of medieval date were recovered, both in later deposits, with the majority of the finds dating to the 18th and 19th centuries and largely related to rubbish disposal and gardening at the rear of burgage plots. Two wall foundations are on the lines of burgage plot boundaries known from historic mapping. A post-medieval stone drain crossed the site and two (possibly three) pits recorded were probably for the disposal of rubbish. |
